LatamChequea Innovation is the working group on innovation, technology, and artificial intelligence of the Latin American fact-checking network.
We aim to strengthen the technological capabilities of fact-checkers across the region through knowledge sharing, experimentation, and collaboration among fact-checking organizations and other key stakeholders.
We promote innovation as a strategy to tackle disinformation and contribute to a more robust, accessible, and trustworthy information ecosystem in Latin America.
Who we are
The LatamChequea Innovation chapter is a collaborative space that brings together product professionals, software developers, data and artificial intelligence specialists, as well as social media, audience, and innovation teams, among other key profiles.
Through dialogue, exchange, and collaboration among member organizations, we promote the strategic use of digital tools and artificial intelligence to improve verification, content production, and distribution processes.

AI in fact-checking media: the Newtral experience
Juan Sebastián Lozada, a journalist with Colombiacheck, traveled to Spain as part of the LatamChequea exchange program and visited Newtral’s offices to gain a better understanding of how they use artificial intelligence and what lessons other Latin American fact-checkers can apply.
